NAME: ALEXEI LEONIDOVICH KUDRIN

BORN: 12 October 1960 in Dobel, Latvia.

EDUCATION: *Mr Kudrin graduated from Leningrad State University with a degree in economics in 1983.

CAREER: *From 1983-1990 Mr Kudrin worked at various academic institutions in Leningrad, including The Institute of Socio-Economic Problems in Leningrad.  *From 1990-1996, he worked at the mayor’s office in St. Petersburg.  *Mr. Kudrin began working for the Mayor of St. Petersburg in 1990, initially as Chair of the Committee for Economic Reform, before moving on to head the Committee for Economics and Finance.  *Mr. Kudrin served as First Deputy Mayor of St. Petersburg from 1995 until 1996. *Mr Kudrin was deputy head of presidential administration under Anatoly Chubais from 1996 to 1997.  *He served as First Deputy Minister of Finance from 1997 until 2000.  *Mr Kudrin was appointed Minister of Finance and Deputy Prime Minister in the Kasyanov Cabinet on 18 May 2000.  *He was subsequently reappointed to these positions in the Government’s of Prime Ministers Fradkov, Zubkov, and Putin.

MISCELLANEOUS: *Alleged author of the 13% Flat Tax.  *Protégé of Anatoly Borisovich Chubais.  *Saint Petersburg Economist.  *Met Putin in 1991.  *He is a member of the boards of ALROSA, and Vneshkonombank.  *Chair, National Banking Board.  *Putin slept in Kudrin’s kitchen when Putin first moved to Moscow.  *Married to Irina Tintyakova, with a daughter and a son, Artyom (‘98).
