NAME: VIKTOR VASILYEVICH ZOLOTOV

EDUCATION: *Graduated from secondary school in 1970?

CAREER:  *Upon graduation, worked at AZLK.  *In the 1970s and 80s, he was an official in the 9^th Directorate (Guard) of the KGB. *Joined the Federal Guard Service (FSO) in 1992.  *In the first half of the 90s was the bodyguard of Saint Petersburg Mayor Anatoly Sobchak, and First Vice Mayor Vladimir Putin.  *In 1996 was discharged from the FSO. *Worked as a private guard in Saint Petersburg.  *Created Baltic-Escort, a private guard service, with Roman Tsepov. *In Autumn 1999, Zolotov headed Prime Minister Putin’s security. *Has been head of President’s Security Detail, and Deputy of the FSO since 2000.

MISCELLANEOUS: *Sobchak’s personal body-guard.  *Putin’s sparring partner in Judo, and boxing.  *President of the “Russian National Federation of Karate and Judo” (Vice Presidents — Andrei Yaroslavtsev, Yevgeny Prokhorov, and Yuri Kotov). *In September 2004, Zolotov took part in the funeral of his former partner, Roman Tsepov.
