NAME: IGOR YEVGENYEVICH LEVITIN

BORN: 1951? in Odessa, Ukrainian SSR

EDUCATION: *Mr. Levitin is a graduate of the Military Transportation Academy.

CAREER: *Mr Levitin worked from 1973 to 1976 in the Odessa military district on Pridnestrovsk railway.  *From 1976 to 1980 he served in the Southern division of the armed forces.  *Mr Levitin was Military Commandant of the Urgal station and the Baikal-Amur Railway area between 1983 and 1985.  *He was Military Commandant and Deputy Head of Moscow Military Railway Communications Services from 1985 until 1994.  *He worked at Severstaltrans from 1996 until 2004, serving as Deputy General Director from 1998.  *Mr Levitin was appointed Minister of Transport on 9 March, 2004.

MISCELLANEOUS: *Mr. Levitin was a member of the special commission tasked with reforming the Railways Ministry, and participated in the creation of Russian Railways Company in 2003 as a result of that reform project.  *Rumoured to have ties to Arkady Rotenberg.

SUBORDINATES: *The Ministry of Transport is responsible for the following agencies: The Transport Oversight Agency, The Air Transport Agency, The Highways Agency, The Rail Transport Agency, The Maritime and River Transport Agency, and The Geodesy and Cartography Agency.
