Dmitry Peskov

NAME: DMITRY SERGEYEVICH PESKOV

BORN: 17 October 1967

EDUCATION: Mr Peskov graduated from the Institute of Asian and African Countries at Moscow State University (MGU) with a degree in Oriental History in 1989.

CAREER: *Upon graduation Mr Peskov joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.  *His first post was the embassy in Turkey, where he worked from 1990 to 1994, as assistant-on-duty, then attache, then third secretary.  *Mr Peskov transferred back to Moscow from 1994 to 1996, where he worked at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.  *He moved back to Turkey in 1996, where he again worked at the embassy as second, then first secretary.  *Upon Vladimir Putin’s election in 2000, Mr Peskov became responsible for the President’s press and media activities, working first as Head of the department for relations with mass media, and deputy head of the Russian President Press Service.  *When the President Administration was reorganized in March 2004, Mr Peskov was appointed deputy press secretary of RF President.  *Mr Peskov moved with Mr Putin to the Prime Minister’s office in May 2008, and became both Press Secretary to the Prime Minister, and Deputy Head of the Office of RF Government.

MISCELLANEOUS: *Mr Peskov is married and has a daughter and a son.  *He is the recipient of the Badge of Honour.  *Mr Peskov speaks Turkish fluently.  *Mr Peskov is a member of the board of Sochi Olympics Supervisory Board.
