NAME: ALEXEI ALEXEYEVICH GROMOV

BORN: 1960 in Zagorsk, Moscow Region

EDUCATION: Mr Gromov graduated from Moscow State University in 1982 with a degree in Southern and Western Slavic History.

CAREER: *Upon graduation, Mr Gromov joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.  *He was initially assigned to the Soviet Embassy in Czechoslovakia, where he worked from 1982 to 1988.  *Mr Gromov returned to Moscow, and worked in the Secretariat of the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs from 1988 to 1991.  *He was appointed 1st Secretary of the General Secretariat of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 1991 to 1992.  *Mr Gromov was assigned to be the Consul of the Russian Consulate General in Slovakia from 1992 to 1993.  *He was Counsellor of the Russian Embassy in Slovakia from 1993 to 1996.  *Mr Gromov was appointed Head of the President’s Press Office from 1996 to 2000.  *From 2000 to 2008, he was the President’s Press Attaché. *Appointed First Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office on 21 May 2012.

 

MISCELLANEOUS: *Mr Gromov speaks fluent Czech, Slovak, and English.  *He is married, and has two sons, Alexei, and Danila.  *He and Sergei Prikhodko (15) both served in Czechoslovakia at the same time.
