NAME: ARKADY VLADIMIROVICH DVORKOVICH

BORN: 26 March 1972 in Moscow

EDUCATION: *Mr Dvorkovich graduated from Moscow State University (MGU) with a degree in economic cybernetics in 1994.  *He later completed courses at the New Economic School (Moscow).  *He received a Masters in Economics from Duke University in the USA in 1997.

CAREER: *Mr Dvorkovich began his career as an Advisor, and then Head of the Economic Expert Group of Russia’s Ministry of Finance from 1994 to 2000.  *He served as an Advisor to the Minister of Economic Development and Trade, and an Expert at the “Strategic Development Centre”, created by German O Gref from 2000 to 2001.  *He was appointed Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade in 2001.  *Mr Dvorkovich was the head of the Presidential Experts’ Council under President Putin from 2004 to May 2008.  *He replaced Igor Shuvalov as Presidential Advisor on Economics upon President Medvedev’s inauguration in May 2008.  *He was appointed Russian Sherpa (representative) to the G8, replacing Igor Shuvalov, on 19 May 2008.

MISCELLANEOUS: *Mr Dvorkovich speaks both English and German.  *Son of chess champion Vladimir Dvorkovich. *Married to Zumrud Rustamova, deputy general director of metals firm Polimetall. *Mr Dvorkovich is responsible for President Medvedev’s economic policies. *Hobbies include taking photos, and watching football.
