NAME: DMITRY ANATOLYEVICH MEDVEDEV
BORN: 14 September, 1965 in Leningrad
EDUCATION: Mr Medvedev graduated from the Law Department of Leningrad State University, in 1987. Upon completion of the post-graduate program at the University in 1990, he obtained Ph. D. (Law), and assistant professorship.
CAREER: *Mr Medvedev taught at St. Petersburg State University from 1990 to 1999.
*From 1990 to 1995 he served as Adviser to the Chairman of Leningrad City Council, and Expert Consultant, Committee for External Relations of the St. Petersburg Mayor’s Office.
*Dmitry Medvedev was appointed Deputy Chief of Staff of the Government of the Russian Federation in 1999.
*From 1999 – 2000 he was Deputy Head, then First Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration.
*Mr Medvedev was Chairman of the Board of Directors, Gazprom, from 2000 to 2001, and Deputy Chairman of the Board in 2001-2002.
*He was Chairman of the Board of Directors, Gazprom from June, 2002- June, 2008.
*Dmitry Medvedev was appointed Head of the Presidential Administration on October 30, 2003 (taking the place of Alexander Voloshin).
*Mr Medvedev became 1st Deputy Prime Minister with responsibility for national projects in November 2005.
*Dmitry Medvedev was elected President on 2 March, 2008.
*He was inaugurated on 7th May, 2008.
MISCELLANEOUS: *Dmitry A. Medvedev married his high school sweetheart, Svetlana, in 1989; they have one son, Ilya, born 1997. *His mother, Yulia, taught Russian and literature at the Herzen State Pedagogical University. *His father, Anatoly, was a physics professor at the Leningrad State Polytechnic Institute. *Mr Medvedev’s favourite music group is Deep Purple. *His favourite song by Deep Purple is “Kentucky Woman“. *He does yoga and swims for sport. *He is five foot three inches in height. *Vladimir Putin personally chose Mr Medvedev to be his advisor at the External Relations Committee in St Petersburg. *Has aquarium in his office at the Kremlin, and only he can feed the fish in it. *Purchased a 1948 vintage car in 2009. *Earned 1.3 million roubles in 2003, 4.1 in 2008, and 3.3 in 2009.
